Bonjour all! We hope and trust your summer has been lovely thus far. Things here have been rather busy, and we wanted to share a few updates. This summer we were delighted to be a part of the annual Lavender Festival in Roswell, GA. It was lovely to be amongst fellow artisan vendors and meet members of the local community! Given the theme we naturally showcased and had an exclusive sale on our [Joy de Voyage] fine art Lavender photo (taken during our founder Joy’s return to Provence a decade after spending a semester exchange there).
Which speaking of France, we also couldn’t help but recommend one of our favorite places to explore, and incidentally another (and the first) place where Joy studied French abroad — Champagne. In our opinion, what better way to beat the heat than by visiting this incredible region? Joy always loves returning here, even if just for a short stay and naturally coupled with a champagnerie visit. She’s enjoyed visiting several champagne houses, including of course the iconic (and a personal favorite) Veuve Clicquot, whose cellar is pictured here.

There is so much to discover in this incredible region of France — certainly its champagne, as well as its royal heritage, art deco reconstruction, beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral, and role in the surrender ending World War II. It certainly merits a visit, and may we recommend a stay at one of the local Relais & Chateaux properties? Such as Château de Courcelles, which served as a lovely residence during a weekend return.

And of course given this year’s July 4th marks the 250th anniversary founding of the United States, one great way to celebrate and learn more about this momentous occasion is by exploring our nation’s foundational history in places such as Philadelphia, Boston, and New York City. And for those unable to travel at the moment, you can also discover more on America’s revolutionary democratic founding at home, thanks to Ken Burns and incredible documentaries such as “The American Revolution.” Then delve deeper into America’s story with Unum for historical context amidst the climate and challenges of today.

Additionally, we are excited for Wed Society Savannah’s upcoming inaugural “Book of Weddings” release, which we will be attending. And finally stay tuned for our next Blog posts, which will feature (1) our recommendations for attire while traveling (including carryons, luggage, and packing) and also (2) what we look for and purchase while abroad (especially for gifts, jewelry, decor) and more.
